One of the two initial CitySprouts gardens in Cambridge, the first Haggerty raised beds were constructed in 2002 on the north side of the school. Over the next five years, ‘pockets’ of gardens popped up around the periphery of the schoolgrounds. In 2007, Haggerty received a grant to construct a new outdoor classroom garden on the south side of the school, effectively gathering the many garden areas into oneoutdoor classroom garden. The Haggerty garden features raised beds, a copper-paneled garden bench created by artist Mitch Ryerson and Haggerty fifth graders, and a Five Senses garden. The CitySprouts garden coordinator is at this school 10 hours per week, April through November.
