CitySprouts Summer Youth Internship- “Leaving this garden is going to be hard. It’s kind of part of me and I think I’m part of it.” —CitySprouts intern 2008
CitySprouts’ Summer Internship provides young teens with an intensive month growing and harvesting food in an urban garden, expanding their first-hand experience preparing and eating healthy food and fostering a strong connection to their natural urban environment.
Each intern is part of a team of 10-13 youth based in their own school or neighborhood CitySprouts garden. CitySprouts interns spend 4 mornings a week for 4 weeks with their CitySprouts Garden Coordinator and intern team in the school garden or on field trips to farms or community service organizations in the Boston area.
Summer Fellows are college students recruited as assistants to CitySprouts garden coordinators in our summer youth program. In the afternoons, Fellows work in the CitySprouts gardens on maintenance teams that keep our 12 CitySprouts gardens in Cambridge thriving through the summer. Summer Fellows gain experience in working with youth in urban food production. A summer-long commitment is required. For more information or to apply, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
