OUR mISSIOn

The CitySprouts mission is to cultivate curiosity and wonder in students through hands-on science learning in their own schoolyard gardens.

we achieve this by

• Building and maintaining school-based learning gardens

• Nurturing a passion for science and an attachment to the natural world

• Teaching how to grow and prepare healthy fresh foods

• Inspiring middle school students to pursue STEM and green careers

• Creating experiences that promote social emotional learning

• Connecting students to environmental resources in their communities

Since 2001, CitySprouts has partnered closely with public schools in Cambridge and Boston. We prioritize working with students in communities where access to nature and funding for science education have been historically under-resourced. We believe teaching early science in school gardens and providing meaningful after school and summer programs for middle school students are vital steps toward achieving equity in science education and outdoor learning in Cambridge and Boston.
