Announcing CitySprouts Building Capacity campaign to raise $1,000,000 by 2021
Since 2001, CitySprouts has partnered with public schools to create a thread of engaged learning through a child’s public school journey. From that first spark of curiosity when a kindergartner discovers the learning garden to the 8th grader who heads into their young adult life with new STEM opportunities before them, CitySprouts’ garden pipeline in school and out-of-school is proven to keep children engaged and connected to the world around them.
CitySprouts has done ground-breaking work in connecting children to nature and engaged learning through our public schools. Our success over the past 19 years is due to the great enthusiasm and persistence of our community of remarkable families, teachers, partners, friends and of course children. But as we approach our third decade it is clear that in order to continue we must build a more sustainable base for the work ahead.
The funds we raise will grow our school partnerships and our out-of-school Young Leaders program. It will help us develop CitySprouts for very young children just starting school, creating new resources for their teachers and their families to encourage inquiry-based learning. It will support our work at the other end of the garden pipeline preparing young people to further science study and think critically and compassionately about the natural environment. It will allow us to scale our impact regionally and share our model and learning with other urban school districts and community-based programs around the country.
Thank you for your part in making CitySprouts what it is today and please join us in growing CitySprouts into the future. Our world needs deep and widespread civic and environmental engagement on everyone’s part. The importance of science education and environmental literacy– and what the world looks like without it– is made clearer every day.
Stay tuned for more information about CitySprouts’ Building Capacity campaign in the weeks ahead. We hope you will join us in connecting every child to the natural world where they live, learn and play.
