Adopt a Garden this Summer
CitySprouts relies on the help of skilled gardener volunteers to help keep our partner schools' gardens growing and thriving through the summer months. The Garden Volunteer commits to caring for a specific garden during some or all of the summer, communicating with CitySprouts Volunteer Coordinator the beginning and end dates for which they will be responsible, and any vacation or travel time for which the Volunteer Coordinator will need to secure other coverage. Key Responsibilities
Basic garden care will include watering the garden thoroughly at least twice a week
Harvesting any ripe produce
Weeding as much as necessary to maintain garden production
Alerting the Volunteer Coordinator to any unexpected issues such as vandalism, broken or leaking spigots, or signs of rodents, wasps or other pests
Ensure that water key is returned to the shed after each garden visit
Benefits
The Garden Volunteer is an unpaid position but is welcome to harvest from the garden
In person training with Volunteer Coordinator and/or Garden Coordinator
Check-ins and option to have Volunteer Coordinator occasionally join you when you water
Family friendly
Qualifications
Experienced gardener, confident in properly weeding, watering, and harvesting
Ability to work independently
3 hours/week June 18 - August 19
